Question
QUESTION: I have a 2004 accent.i can not locate the fuel filter. The dealer said it is under the rear seat, but it is not.I had a 2002 and it was there, but the 2004.....WHERE IS IT?
ANSWER: According to both the shop manual and the parts catalog, the filter is located on top of the fuel tank.  There is an access panel to this area under the rear seat.

QUESTION: I have checked under the rear seat a dozen times and I am 100% sure it is not there.

Answer
In the event there was a production change and the shop manual hadn't been updated, I also checked the 2005 Accent shop manual with the same result.  I also went back and checked the parts catalog again.  Although the fuel filter above the tank is shown for the 2004 model, there's also a filter on the pump assembly beginning with vehicle produced 9/1/02.  The fuel feed tube also shows a change beginning with that production date.

I suspect that the shop manual is incorrect (production changes often don't appear) and that the parts catalog erroneously lists the above-tank filter as applying to your car.  If you inspect the car and can find no filter between the fuel pump assembly and the fuel rail, then I expect the only filter is the one on the fuel pump assembly inside the tank.
