Hyundai Repair: On Wiper Blade/Arm doesnt move, hyundai sonata, wiper arm

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1998 Hyundai Sonata. One of the wiper blade arms doesn't move. The other moves normally and at all speeds. How can I repair it? Do I need to replace the wiper motor or what? Thank you.
ANSWER: The most common cause of your symptom is a loose wiper arm nut.  Check the nut at the base of the wiper arm that doesn't move.  If it's loose, turn the ignition on, turn the wipers off, allow them to park, turn the ignition off, move the nonmoving wiper to the parked position, and then tighten the nut.

Since one of your wiper arms moves normally, the wiper motor cannot possibly be the issue.  It is possible, however, that the wiper linkage has broken.

QUESTION: Thank you for the quick replay. Could you tell me a little more about the "wiper linkage." I will try your suggestion first, but if it doesn't work, perhaps I might need to do something else.

Answer
The linkage consists of two arms under the plastic cowling at the base of the windshield.  On runs from the motor to a wiper pivot, and the other runs from the the first wiper pivot to the other wiper pivot.  It's possible that the link running between the two pivots came off one of them, causing one of the wipers to not operate.
