Hyundai Repair: 1998 Hyundai ignition switch cylinder removal, steering column, bolts

Question
My key broke half way in the ignition and I want to remove the cylinder in order to remove the other half. i have an extra key but it's no good unless the interior half of the broken one is removed.

Answer
Unless the cylinder turns, you won't be able to remove the cylinder itself.  If you can get the cylinder to turn, remove the steering column covers, turn the lock to the "on" position, depress the pin locking the cylinder into the housing, and pull the cylinder out while holding the pin in.

If the cylinder won't turn, you'll need to replace the entire steering lock housing assembly.  To do this, you'll either need to unscrew the tamper-proof bolts with a hammer and punch, or you'll need to break or cut the housing to get it off the steering column.
