Hyundai Repair: serpentine belt, release the tension, sonota

Question
I have a 2000 Sonota.  I got a serpentine belt to change the existing one. I cannot see how to move the tension arm to remove the belt and change it. Is there a special "hyndai" tool required? Please explain the belt replacement method. Thank you.

Answer
Depending on when the tensioner was produced, the tension is released either by putting a 17mm open-end wrench over the end of the tensioner arm or by placing a 3/8" drive ratchet in the 3/8" square hole in the tensioner.

To change the belt, release the tension and slip the belt off one of the pulleys, taking note of the belt routing.  Then remove the two 12mm bolts and remove the tensioner and belt.  Install the new belt onto the tensioner and bolt back into place.  Then route the belt and release the tension again to enable you to put it on the last pulley.  I find it's easiest to do the alternator or power steering pulley last.
