Hyundai Repair: 1996 Elantra wont start, positive cable, starter motor

Question
My 1996 Elantra won't start.  It tries but no go.. I see that the positive cable on my battery is fraied and therefore it truly do not have full connection.  I was also told it may be my fuel pump...HELP  I really need my car up and running

Answer
Hi, Linda.  I'll need some more information to advise you on what the problem may be.

1.  When you turn the key to start the car, does the starter motor crank the engine (and continue cranking until you release the key)?
2.  If so, does the engine crank fast, slow, or at a normal speed?
