Hyundai Repair: dash lights, fuse box, fog lamp

Question
It's a 2003 Tiburon.  None of the fuses were blown the second time, so I never changed them. (I'm really not sure which one was changed the first time). My parking lights on the right side, both front and back went out.  My dad found out that it was bad circuit between the two.

-----Question-----
My dash lights went out a couple weeks ago. I changed the fuse and they started working again.  About a week later they went out again.  This time changing the fuse didn't help.  My dad has checked almost everything that he thinks could be causing this. Do you have any idea on what might be the problem??
-----Answer-----
Inpoerative dash lights are usually caused by a short in one of the tail lamp circuits, causing the tail lamp fuse to blow, or by a faulty rheostat (dimmer switch).  To give you good advice, I'll need a little more information.

1.  What year and model Hyundai do you have?
2.  The second time you replaced the fuse, was the fuse blown?
3.  Which fuse did you replace?
4.  Did the new fuse blow when the lamps were turned on again?
5.  Do all your exterior lamps work?

Answer
Your dash lamps are on the same circuit as the right hand tail lamps.  Your first step should be to check the right tail lamp fuse in the dash fuse box to see if it's blown.  If it is, you have the daunting task of finding out why it's blown.  It could be a short in the in any of the following components or in the wiring between the fuse box and the component:
1.  Lighter/ashtray illumination
2.  Glove box lamp
3.  Instrument cluster illumination
4.  Rheostat
5.  Traction control switch illumination (if equipped)
6.  Gauge cluster illumination (if equipped)
7.  Seat warmer switch illumination (if equipped)
8.  HVAC control illumination
9.  Fog lamp switch illumination
10.  Hazard switch illumination
11.  Radio illumination
12.  Sport mode switch (shiftronic) illumination (if equipped)
13.  Right rear tail lamp
14.  Right rear marker lamp
15.  Right front parking lamp
16.  Right front corner lamp.

If you don't have an understanding of how to read and use electrical schematics, this is probably a task best left to someone who's good at electrical work.  You might try replacing the right side tail/marker/corner/park lamp bulbs just to make sure that's not the issue first.  If you've recently worked on any of the above components, you might check that area for pinched wiring as well.  After that, diagnosis gets very involved very quickly.
