Hyundai Repair: engine light on, engine shuts down at 5 rpm, engine rev, engine control module

Question
My car just rolled over to 100,000 and the engine light came on.  I can't tell that anything is wrong except when  the engine rev's. It never used to act like it would shut down except on or near the red line (past 6) and now it starts to shut off even near 5

Answer
If your engine control module (ECM) hasn't been reprogrammed, I'd suspect the fuel pump.  But that often doesn't trigger a check engine lamp.

I'd recommend starting with reading the trouble codes in your ECM.  That should give you a good idea where to start.  If you follow up with the codes, I can tell you what they mean and advise on how to proceed with diagnosis and repair.
