Hyundai Repair: Hyundai alternator alignment, hex head, case assembly

Question
My alternator on my 2001 Accent is out of alignment. I notice that the that the bottom bolt sits in a well with a sloppy fit. Is there a sleeve in that well that need to be replaced?

Answer
My recollection is that the bottom alternator bolt goes through a hole in the front case/oil pump assembly.  It's possible the design was revised to use a slot instead of a hole for ease of assembly and disassembly.  The bolt is an 8mm bolt with a 12mm hex head and should fit in the hole or slot without too much slop.  If there's a lot of play, the slot or hole may be worn to the point where you need to replace the oil pump.

Considering the effort involved in replacing the oil pump/front case assembly, you should probably get an in-person professional opinion to make sure that's the case before beginning that undertaking.
