Hyundai Repair: trouble codes, transmission control module, transmission control module tcm

Question
I have a 2001 Santa fe I have a list of problems from the Hyundai dealer ship. the first it says pulse generator input sensor or input speed sensor the other is Cat or H0252 What are these and where are they located?

Answer
The input speed sensor is a device on your transmission which tells the transmission control module (TCM) the rotational speed of the input shaft of the transmission.  It's located on top of the transmission just under the bracket that attaches the shift cable to the top of the transmission.

"Cat" typically refers to the catalytic converter.  You'll have one on each exhaust manifold, and another further back in the exhaust system.

I've never heard the term H0252 used, so I don't know to what it refers.  If you can tell me the actual trouble codes, I can tell you whether you may have other problems  beyond the items you've listed.  If you have any questions about the meaning of anything on your receipt from the dealer, they should be willing to tell you what everything means.  They may not be very willing to give repair instructions or advice, however.
