Hyundai Repair: 2000 Hyundai Sonata V6 GLS 2.5, torque converter clutch, throttle position sensor


Question
After driving for about 20 mins and come to a stop,while idling in drive vehicle turns off,I restart and vehicle starts to skip then smoothes out. If I stop it could shut off again.Recently had both speed sensors and coil housing changed due to one burnt coil. Please help, Thanks

First, make sure your transmission fluid is full (check hot in neutral).  If not, the torque converter clutch could be engaging, causing the engine to stall if the vehicle is stationary.

Next, check your engine and transmission trouble codes.  Most things that will make an engine not run properly will set a trouble code.

Based on your description, I primarily suspect a misfire or crank sensor issue, but I don't have a good enough picture of what's happening to be very confident about that, and it's possible you could have an issue with your idle actuator or throttle position sensor.  If you have no stored trouble codes, your best bet is probably to have the car checked by a good driveability technician.  The most instructive information can be obtained by actually feeling the issue occur.
