Hyundai Repair: Tiburon Air bag question, hyundai tiburon, 2003 hyundai tiburon

Question
I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6.  I recently was in a slight accident
where my driver's side-airbag deployed.  The dealership told me that the
none of the airbag components other than the bag itself needed replacing.
They claimed that the entire drivers seat would have to be replaced for
$1,800 in order to return the airbag to a safe working condition.  Is that true?

I did not pay for that at the time and instead opted for the uphostery to be
sewn up.  Will the other airbags (both fronts and passenger side) still deploy
if the vehicle is in another accident?

Thank you for your time.

Answer
That's definitely not correct.  Your air bag and restraint system will be inactive until the computer is replaced.  The computer will only fire air bags once.  According to Hyundai technical service bulletin 04-90-002, here's what needs to be done:
1.  Replace all seat belts and buckles worn during the collision.
2.  Replace the deployed air bag.
3.  Replace the air bag wiring harness.
4.  Replace the air bag computer and mounting bolts.
5.  Replace the clock spring.

In general, if your air bag warning lamp is on, you should consider that your air bag system is most likely inactive.
