Hyundai Repair: 2000 Hyundai Elantra, hyundai elantra, frequent problems

Question
I am not sure what is going on with my car, but the additives are not helping it run better.
I just added a fuel system cleaner to the gas as well as some deets (water/gas dryer)?
Its still sputtering, only when I accelerate, and it acts like its not getting fuel or something.
I hope its just a fuel filter, but is there anyway to know?
You cant see inside the fuel filter so it's just a good guess?
hopefully its not the fuel pump or sensor, but i have no idea.
thanks for your help

Answer
Usually, the symptoms you describe, especially the "sputtering," are characteristic of a misfire.  The most frequent problems causing misfires are with the spark plugs, plug wires, and ignition coil.  Usually, this will cause the check engine lamp to come on as well.  If so, the diagnostic trouble code should indicate which cylinder is misfiring.
