Hyundai Repair: 2000 Hyundai Elantra brakes, hyundai elantra, 2000 hyundai elantra

Question
Brakes seem soft, pedal travels to floor/stop.  Brakes have never locked up since I bought the car new, even if I slam them suddenly.  Rotors, pads are all new.  System has been bled and there is no air present.
Could a faulty master cylinder be the culprit?  I have no confidence in stopping this car quickly if at highway speeds.  Thanks,

Answer
A faulty master cylinder is a possibility.  But so are misadjusted rear brakes and braking surface contamination.  If there's any kind of oily substance on the rotors or drums, your braking ability will be greatly diminished.

Also, if the new pads are fairly hard, it may take them a while to seat into the rotors to get maximum braking.  Once the pads are worn so that their surfaces exactly matches the rotors', you should get significantly better braking than you did out of the pads when they were brand new.
