Hyundai Repair: Timing Belt Replacement, mile powertrain warranty, timing belt tensioner

Question
I own a 2004 Hyundai Sonata GL (2.7L V6) with 67,000 mi on it.  According to the manual, the timing belt should be replaced at 60k.  My question is, when having the timing belt replaced, due you also advise replacing the tensioner and water pump as a preventative measure?  It seems additional labor would be minimal to none.  If so, are there any other parts/seals you would advise replacing at the time?  Thanks, Bryan

Answer
If you're the original owner, don't replace the water pump.  It'll be covered under the 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.  If not the original owner, then I consider this a matter of preference and risk management.  I've only seen a few failures of the water pump in question, so I tend to not recommend replacement when I'm already doing a timing belt.

I would recommend replacing the timing belt tensioner on this engine.  It can fail without you knowing it and cause the timing belt to jump time.  Other than the items already discussed, there's nothing else worthy of replacement unless an inspection at the time of the work shows it's needed.
