Hyundai Repair: paint, hyundai warranty, minor imperfections

Question
I recently purchased a used 06 Santa Fe with 1700 miles on it.  While drying it after a wash I noticed a run under the clear coat beneath the mirror on the passenger side, is this covered under the warranty?

Answer
You have a specific paint warranty for 3 years and 36,000 miles.  According to the Hyundai warranty manual, defects "which [result] in a significant unsightly appearance or affect the value of the vehicle" are covered, while "minor imperfections ... commercially acceptable" such as orangepeel or variation in color or gloss are not.

You'll need to take it to your local dealer for them to inspect it.  They may be able to make a decision.  If they're not certain, they'll probably want to schedule you for the factory representative to look at the vehicle.

In any event, you should have them look at this sooner rather than later.  The newer the vehicle, the more chance you stand that Hyundai will repair things they consider "normal" in order to show their willingness to stand behind the product.  But you should also be aware that repair will likely require a significant amount of sanding and repainting.  That's not necessarily all that desireable, either.  You should consider how much repairing vs. not repairing would affect your opinion of the vehicle.
