Hyundai Repair: air conditioning not blowing cold, 2002 hyundai sonata, hyundai sonata

Question
Recently while driving my 2002 hyundai sonata, i heard what sounded like a spewing noise coming from my engine.  It almost sounded like bursts of air.  I looked under my car to see if anything was leaking and there was not.  Shortly after that, my air conditioning would not blow cold.  My heater works and heats fine though.  I did a little research on the consumer auto guide website and it said that it may be the "aspirator hose"?  Does this sound like the problem to you?  I would appreciate your expert input on this.  THANK YOU, TAMMY

Answer
I don't know of anything on an air conditioning system called an "aspirator hose."  The name implies that it would be adding air to the system, and that's something that cannot be done to an air conditioning system and still have it functioning normally.

It sounds like an air conditioning hose burst or some other a/c component such as the compressor or condensor suddenly broke, releasing all your refrigerant, resulting in the burst of air noise you describe.

If you know what you're looking at, you can try looking at the a/c hoses and lines under the hood as well as the condensor (the radiator-looking think behind your grille) to see if you can see a break or a hole.  If not, you'll need to take the car to a shop to have them inspect it.  If they cannot see anything visually, they'll need to put some refrigerant in the system (providing I'm correct with my diagnosis) to see where it leaks out.
