Hyundai Repair: Timing marks, belt alignment, hyundai accent

Question
I asked a question earlier without giving make & model     Its a 2001 Hyundai accent 1.6 L engine.
The timing belt broke I got your info on replacement but no timing belt alignment for the cam i need procedures fot this and if the belt broke at idle will there be a valve problem. thank you for your time.

Answer
The likelihood of bent valves in this engine is very high, so you should have every expectation that you'll probably need to remove the cylinder head.

To line up the camshaft sprocket, you'll want to align the small hole in the sprocket with the mark at the top of the #1 camshaft bearing cap.  The hole will be at 12 O'Clock when aligned.  To align the crankshaft sprocket, you'll need to line up the dot on the sprocket with a tit on the oil pump case.  According to my diagram, this should be aligned at approximately 1 O'Clock.

If you haven't registered for an account at www.hmaservice.com, I'd recommend doing so.  It's free, and the site will allow you access to the factory service manual, which will have diagrams of proper alignment.  The site requires Internet Explorer.
