Hyundai Repair: 2006 Sonata dash, dash radio, radio piece

I would like to remove that storage box on the lower dash and install a DIN sized radio unit. How do I remove it? I see instructions to remove the upper dash radio piece, but not the lower dash area.

I presume you're referring to the storage compartment immediately underneath the climate control.  This is somehow connected to the faceplate that has the climate control in it.  

The whole assembly snaps out of the dash.  Unfortunately, the clips used are *very* stubborn.  You'll probably need to use a pick or similar tool to slip in the crack between the assembly and the dash to be able to grab it from the back and pull it out.  If you attempt to pry it out, you'll certainly damage the dash.
