Hyundai Repair: re code, hyundai sonata, hyundai dealer

I have had a look at my hyundai sonata 2000 model and pressed the 4 button and turned it on. all i got was CDE-- -- -- -- coming up on my radio.  can u help me again. many thanks

If you turn the radio on normally, the word "COdE" should appear in the display.  If you're holding in the "4" button when you turn on the radio, you should have a series of dashes and perhaps the number 1.  You must be holding in the "4" button when you turn on the radio.  I'll need to know the position of the dashes and whether the number 1 is present with the dashes to be able to give you the radio code.

If you're unable to obtain the dash pattern, you can remove the radio and copy the serial number off of it.  Take the serial number with proof of your ownership of the vehicle to your local Hyundai dealer.  The dealer should be able to obtain the code from the Hyundai, using the serial number of the radio.
