Hyundai Repair: car jerk at idle, hyundai accent, performance issue

Question
I have a 1999 Hyundai Accent with approximately 99,400 miles on it.

Just wanted to get some feedback on an observation I made recently. I noticed that while I had the car in park, idling, i would feel a 'jerk' movement. Not only once, but several times. Its as if the engine moved for a split second and cause the entire car to jerk slightly. Its not that noticable if you have other things going on but if you take off your music and just sat there listening for any kind of weird sounds, you can feel it. Any ideas as to what this might be?

Also, the check engine light comes up with the code P0441.

thank you!

Answer
I'd expect the cause of the P0441 code is a stuck open purge control valve.  I suppose it's possible this could make the car run rich enough to cause what you feel.  The only way to tell for certain is to repair the P0441 issue and see if the "jerk" remains.

It's also possible that you're developing a small misfire, but if it's not enough to set the check engine lamp (I'm referring to a code other than P0441) or create a performance issue, it's probably not worth investing further diagnostic effort at this time.  It's even possible based on your description that this may be normal.  Not being able to feel it, it's hard for me to tell.
