Hyundai Repair: 2003 Sonata Replacement bulb numbers, wattage bulb, headlamp bulbs

Question
I've taken note that the owner's manual only gives bulb wattages instead of bulb numbers (such as 1157, etc.).  Can you provide a list of actual bulb numbers for each light location the vehicle has.

Also, Would there be a problem if I used a bulb with more brightness (wattage) for the turn signals as I would like the turn signals to be more noticeable over the headlight brightness and brake light brightness.  Will these brighter bulbs affect the flash rate of the turn signals.

Answer
I don't know all of them.  And unfortunately, the Hyundai parts catalog doesn't list the general trade numbers either.  I find the easiest way when I don't know is to take the bulb out and take it to the parts department with me.  If we don't have the bulb in stock under the Hyundai number, we just match it up with the generic bulbs we have.

The ones I know:
Brake/tail: 1157 or 2057
Front park/turn: 1157NA
Tag/marker: 194
Reverse: 1156

I believe the headlamp bulbs are H7, but I'm not sure.  I also believe that the rear turn signals are 1156NA, but they might use 1157NA bulbs and not activate one of the filaments.  In most cases, your local auto parts supplier will have a catalog which lists the bulb numbers by application.

Using a higher wattage bulb can make the turn signals flash slower or stop flashing.  Anytime you use a bulb with a higher wattage, you're risking blowing the fuse or creating enough heat to melt the plastic of the lamp.  You're probably best to stick with exactly what's recommended.
