Hyundai Repair: power door locks/drain on battery, power door locks, 2005 hyundai tucson

Question
2005 Hyundai Tucson power door locks intermitten opn had taken to the dealer for the past 2 years and still not resolved. Reset remotes, changed relays, cked all connections, soldered some, case history with Hyundai taking it to the next step, "Lemon Law." Also, switches replaced etc. now battery is posing a problem as it is draining overnight.  Nothing left on just feel there's a live short from locks draining battery.  Thanks for your assistance if you have any ideas.

Answer
The number one cause of the battery symptoms you describe is the battery itself.  While it's possible something is staying on or activating and draining the battery (such as the door locks), that's a much less frequent occurrence.  You should start by having your starting and charging system checked.  If you express to the shop that you're concerned that something may be draining the battery while the vehicle is off, they should also perform what's called a "draw test."

While some items (such as the clock) remain on even though the vehicle is off, their power consumption is low.  Performing a draw test will tell the technician how much current is flowing while the vehicle is off.  It should be less than 50mA.  Anything 100mA or above is cause for concern.

I don't understand what the problem with your locks has been.  I'll be happy to offer any advice I can regarding the locks, but I'll need to know what the symptoms are and when they occur.  Does "reset remotes" mean that your BCM was programmed again for the original remotes you received, or that you received new remotes?
