Hyundai Repair: 01 elantra hesitation after warming up, elantra, plug wires

i hav a 01 elantra, 85k miles, recently started to buck, hesitate, CEL has flashed on/off once during one of these episodes.  happens after 10-15 minutes of driving (after warming up), especially in lower rpms - in higher gears. for example: letting rpms drop to 1500-2500 in 3rd or 4th gear and hitting the throttle.  the car starts to hesitate like crazy, unless you quickly drop it to a lower gear and crank up the rpms.

If your check engine lamp is flashing on and off while driving, you have a misfire issue.  In that case, your first checks should be the plug wires, plugs, and ignition coil.

But if you simply mean that the lamp came on and then later went out, you should have the engine and transmission diagnostic trouble codes checked.  This will tell us what sort of problem the computer saw and help me lead you down a reasonably direct path toward finding the problem.  Right now, there'd be far too many possibilities to even make an organized path.
