Hyundai Repair: When to replace a timing belt?, hyundai elantra, wheel vibration

Question
I own a hyundai elantra 02' with about 78,000 miles on it.  I have not yet replace the timing belt what is the recommended milage for anew belt? In addition what other belts should I have replaced?

I've read in a number of forums that Hyundai's are having lots of trouble with their rotors?  I've replaced the tires twice and have had numerous alignments done still have shaking in the wheel and now a grinding in the front end could this be related to the rotors?

Thanks for your help,

Lisa

Answer
The timing belt is recommended to be replaced at four years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.  While the engine in your car doesn't have a propensity for breaking timing belts, you should probably consider replacing it now just to ensure it doesn't break.  If it does, you're likely to damage the engine.  The drive belts (A/C, alternator, power steering) will need to be removed to replace the timing belt.  If they haven't been replaced in the last 25,000 miles or so, it's probably a good idea to install new ones instead of reinstalling the old ones.  The A/C belt seems to be the weakest link, and tends to start cracking at around 3 years or 30,000 miles.

If your rotors are causing a problem, it typically occurs only when braking or is greatly magnified when braking.  Under what circumstances do the steering wheel vibration and the grinding noise occur?
