Hyundai Repair: 2000 hyundai accent, hyundai accent, lever switch

Question
i have a 2000 hyundai accent and this morning when i went out to the car my parking brake/brake fluid level warning light was on, so i topped off the brake fluid like the book shows to do, and the light is still on. i havent been having any problems with my brakesm, could it be a fuse or something? thanks!

Answer
Sometimes the sensor in the master cylinder sticks.  If that's the case, lightly tapping the master cylinder reservoir with a wrench or similar item should free it up.  Also be aware that if the lamp was on due to low fluid level that it's likely your front brake pads are worn or that you have a leak in the system.

It's also possible that the wire to the parking brake lever switch is shorted.

And lastly, if your battery lamp is on as well, the brake lamp will illuminate along with the battery lamp if the alternator is not charging.
