Hyundai Repair: radio removal, phillips screws, facia

Question
I'm sorry I should have given you the make and model originally.  It is a 2004 Elantra.

Hi. I have to replace the fuse in the back of an after market stereo.  Can you please tell me how to reach the screws that hold the stereo into the mounting
bracket? The last car stereo I put in was in a '66 mustang, now, everything is enclosed.

Answer
No problem, Steve.  You'll need to remove the black (or wood grain) plastic facia around the instrument cluster and dash controls.

1.  Remove the two phillips screws located behind the ashtray.
2.  Remove the two phillips screws in the underside of the trim at the top of the instrument cluster.
3.  Tilt the steering wheel to the lowest position.
4.  Turn the ignition off and keep it off (or in the accessory position) until the facia is completely reinstalled.  Unplugging the passenger air bag telltale with the key on will cause the air bag malfunction lamp to come on.
5.  Gently unsnap the facia trim from the dash, unplugging the connectors, and remove the facia.
6.  The radio attachments should now be visible.
7.  Installation is simply the reverse of removal.
