Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Codes, speed sensors, hose clamp

Question
My son lives in California, I live in Indiana.
He called me with two codes that Autozone read for him.
P0715, AND P0722
These appear to be power train codes for the speed sensors.
Where are these sensors located, and can he replace them himself, or does he need to take it to the dealer.
It is not under warranty.

Answer
P0715 indicates an input speed sensor error and P0722 indicates an output speed sensor error.

Your son will be able to replace these himself if he can operate a ratchet.

The input speed sensor is located on top of the transmission about half under the bracket holding the shift cable in place.

The output speed sensor is located on top of the transmission farther back toward the firewall and closer to the driver's side of the car, and is similar in appearance to the input speed sensor.

To access, he'll need to remove the air cleaner (three 10mm bolts and one 10mm hose clamp screw).  If someone was friendly enough to leave out the one under the fuse box, it's easy going.  If it's there, he'll need to remove the battery to access that bolt.  With the air box out of the way, it's easy access to the output speed sensor.  He'll need to remove the two 12mm bolts holding down the shift cable bracket to access the input speed sensor.
