Hyundai Repair: hyundai santa fe engine light, fuel tank level, hyundai santa fe

Question
the check engine light came on while driving.  it has no apparent problems other than a "whining" under the hood once it warms up, but that has been there for awhile.  nobody can fix it.  autozone says trouble codes for light are 463, and 1134.  it is a 2001 santa fe v6.  thanks for the help with both of these issues.

Answer
P0463 is for a fuel tank level sensor error.  I didn't recall the ECM in your vehicle even monitoring the fuel level, so I went to the schematic, and I cannot find any indication there that the ECM monitors your fuel level.  I'd primarily suspect that AutoZone gave you the wrong code.

P1134 is for too long a transition time on the upstream oxygen sensor on the firewall side.  You should check with your local dealer to see whether recall V01 or V02 is open on your vehicle.  If it is, you may be entitled to free replacement of one or more oxygen sensors and reprogramming of your ECM.  If it's already been completed, you'll need to replace the oxygen sensor on your own dime.

For the humming noise, my recommendation would be to take a long screwdriver and probe around putting your ear on the end of the screwdriver to see where the whining is originating.
