Hyundai Repair: Brake booster then Check Engine light comes on and Engine runs rough, air flow sensor, hyundai elantra

Question
I took out the Brake booster due to getting "hard brakes". Brake booster was apparently leaking.
I pulled it out and put it back in due to no one having the parts available.

After re-assembly, my engine ran rough, weak, sometimes "stalling but not flooded" when I applied the gas pedal. It idles ok, but when I get to driving its a acts as if it's flooded?

It wasn't doing this before the Brake Booster work. Check Engine light is always on.

2000 Hyundai Elantra.

Answer
I'm not sure what you mean by "stalling but not flooded," and don't have a very good overall idea of what your car is doing.

Since you had the brake booster out, you should check to make sure the booster vacuum hose is installed properly and not leaking.  This can cause the engine to run poorly or stall.  I also presume you had the intake air bellows off, so you should check to make sure the air bellows is clamped securely in place, is not leaking, and that the air flow sensor is connected and installed in the proper direction.

It's also a good idea to read the diagnostic trouble codes to help diagnose why the check engine lamp is on.  It's probable that the lamp is on for the same reason your car is not running properly, and the code may be of assistance in finding the cause.

And last, it's possible that your brake booster is leaking enough to cause an issue.  A leaking booster will cause unmetered air to enter the engine.
