-----Question-----
A few days ago I was driving my 2003 Santa Fe (2.4L / 5spd) when I noticed it started jerking a little (hesitation) at low RPM when starting off. That has now progressed into ruff idle under 2500RPM especially at a stop light and way less power. It seems to smooth out over 2500RPM (freeway speeds) but again way less power... I checked the plugs, wires, coils and yes the check engine light is on. I was hoping maybe for a quick fix answer (lol) but it usually never happens that way. The bottom end has been changed out from a friend at my local GM dealership. (I broke my timing belt and the motor crushed pistons and valves, it even broke the fly wheel it cost me about 4k in repairs. Tough lesson to learn they would not warranty it because of mileage Hyundai called it a maintenance item). Anyway back to my issue on hand could you please help me?
Thank you,
Dion

-----Answer-----
Hi, Dion.  If the problem isn't originating from the plugs, wires, or coils, I'll want to know what the diagnostic trouble codes are.  That may help provide direction in a sea of possible causes.  AutoZone has advertised they'll do this for free.

Also, since you mentioned the engine repairs, do you have any reason to believe the problem is related to the repairs, i.e. has it been happening ever since the repairs were made?

Answer
You'll want to check whether the injector is connected and check the injector resistance.  The code indicates that the computer detected a problem in the electrical circuit for that injector.  If it's plugged in and has proper resistance, you'll need to check the wiring between the ECM and the injector.
