Hyundai Repair: 2000 accent p1128, maf sensor, bad shape

Question
Hello, Well, I replaced the plugs and wires on the car the plugs were in bad shape. I also took the car to a mechanic to get it diagnosed. I did try to get a Maf sensor at the junkyard and that did not solve the MIL problem. Fortunatly they took the part back,  although they didn't think their part was defective.  It was worth a shot, but i figuered if my maf sensor was bad, the used one at the junkyard was probably bad too. I have not got the car back from the shop yet.  My question is how commen is this maf sensor problem on this car? The dealer has 30 of them in stock. Which makes me think this is the problem. I'm about 90% sure. I hope the mechanic can help reassure me of this problem, or find something I've missed. Why is the dealer the only place I can find this part locally?  I'll keep you posted as to what the final fix is. Thank you for your help.

Answer
It's not a large enough problem that I'd expect the majority of cars to have that problem, but it's a frequent enough problem that many cars will have the problem.  I agree that the part you received from the junk yard was suspect.

As to why you can only find the part at the dealer: I suppose it simply means that there isn't enough demand for this part that the aftermarket has manufactured it.  Since I'm a dealership employee, I don't typically investigate whether parts are available aftermarket.  But the fact that the dealer has 30 in stock means that they sell them on a regular basis.
