Hyundai Repair: 2003sante fe left /r caliper sticking, rear caliper, sante fe

Question
Twice now I have smelled burning brake pads from my 2003 sante fe the 2nd time I was towing a very smal and light trailer when I checked the lft rear caliper was very hot and smelled of burning pads I just replaced pads 8,000 miles ago why is this caliper doing this intermittenly? would it have any thing to do with the traction control locking up that caliper?

Answer
The traction system has the capability of applying the brakes, but your TCS lamp should flash when this happens.  If the lamp doesn't flash, your TCS didn't engage.

Depending on the type of driving you were doing, it's possible you overworked the brakes causing the odor.  But if you have any doubts, you should have the brakes checked.  It's possible the caliper is indeed seizing.  This could be caused by the brake pads not fitting properly, poorly lubricated slides, a binding caliper pistion, or a restriction somewhere else in the hydraulic system.
