Hyundai Repair: 2000 Elantra hyundai clutch replacement, elantra hyundai, clutch replacement

My daughter just called and by what she discribed sounds like her cluch might be bad on her 2000 Elantra.
Is replaceing the cluch someting that can be on my own? If not would we be looking at over $1,000
to have this done. She is just outside the Boston area.

Some people will be able to do this on their own, but most wouldn't.  You'd need to be able to support the engine while you had the transmission and crossmember out.  Other than that, if you're comfortable with pulling a transmission from a front drive, you should be able to do it.  If you've never done anything like that, this probably isn't the car to start on.
