Hyundai Repair: 2000 Tiburon Fan Switch, coolant temperature sensor, coolant level

Question
Temp. rises above normal level at lights and in traffic, pretty sure the fan switch needs to be replaced.  I read that it's located inside the radiator.  Is this something I could change myself?

Answer
Your cooling fan is controlled by the engine control module (ECM), based on information it receives from the coolant temperature sensor.

Your fans will also come on if you turn on the a/c.

First, check to see whether the fans operate when you turn on the a/c.  If not, you'll need to find the electrical problem preventing the fans from operating.

If they do operate when you turn on the a/c, you should probably go through a cooling system diagnosis before reaching the conclusion that the issue is the coolant temperature sensor.  Check the coolant level, whether you have coolant flow when the engine reaches operating temperature, and whether the fan eventually comes on.
