Hyundai Repair: 2005 Hyundai Elantra Hood, 2005 hyundai elantra, hyundai elantra

Question
My daughter has a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. The last time she want to get her oil changes the technicians at the Jiffy Lube had a hard time opening the hood. For some reason the hood did not open easily but required an extreme amount of pressure to push open the hood so they could service the car. I do not have a repair manual on the car. Have you ever encountered this problem of a binding hood. What should I check or do to solve this problem. Is this something that should be handled by the dealer since its still in warranty or is there an easy fix that I can do myself. Thanks for your help and advice!

Sincerely,
Gilles P. Rideau

Answer
You'll need to look at the car to see if it's something simple.  In some cases, the hood bumpers are misadjusted, causing the hood to not spring up properly.  If it's an adjustment issue, it'll only be covered for 1 year/12,000 miles, and you may have already exceeded that.

I'd expect any other issues (cable, latch, release handle, etc.) to be covered by the 5 year/60,000 mile new vehicle warranty.
