Hyundai Repair: front right axle-noise, sonata 5, reputable repair facility

Question
I have a 2000 Hyundai Sonata 5 speed 2.4 engine. It has 84,000 miles. When I turn the steering wheel to the right, I hear crakling noise. It might be the cv boot or the axle. Can you help me. Thanks

Answer
The description you give of the noise sounds most like a worn CV joint.  In that case, I'd recommend a remanufactured aftermarket axle.  If you'd like, you can purchase a new axle from the dealer which will almost certainly be of much better quality, but the price will be outrageous compared to the reman.

Also, please remember that I cannot hear the noise you're describing.  If you have any doubts as to the actual cause, you should have it diagnosed by a reputable repair facility.
