Hyundai Repair: Stalling, kia sephia, 1999 kia sephia

Question
Thanks for your fast reply. I will try to answer these questions for you.

1.  Is the check engine lamp on?
No
3.  Does the car run normally whenever you're not stopped?
yes
4.  Other than when the car stalls, does it run smoothly?
There were a period when it didn't run smothly. it kind of bounced  back and fourth. I hope you understand what i mean by that. so I took it in to a shop where they changed the sparks plug. that didn't fix the problem but before I had time to go back and have it reevaluated the problem went away and the car ran smothly again.
5.  Have you checked to see if there are any recalls on the vehicle that haven't yet been performed?
Yes, and all were fixed at the dealer. this was about 2 years ago.

Again thank you!!

Hello, I didn't see a categorie for Kia so I decided to post it here. hope that was okay.
Well, I have been having lots of problems with my kia but here is the major one that bother me.

1999 KIA sephia sedan 4Dr
1st problem: My car seems to just die.  an example is "I back up of  the parking lot then put the gear in first and it dead. or I am waiting at a red light and then I put it into first then its dead. I also noticed that when its about to die it shivers. This happens no matter the whether but the car does seem worst when it in the winter or when it rains. I went to a car dealer before and they changed the sparks plug and told me that it should be fine.

I don't have the access to the same resources for Kia that I do for Hyundai, but I'll give this a try.

If you could, answer a few questions for me, and that'll help me better understand what's happening.

1.  Is the check engine lamp on?
2.  If so, do you know what the stored trouble codes are?
3.  Does the car run normally whenever you're not stopped?
4.  Other than when the car stalls, does it run smoothly?
5.  Have you checked to see if there are any recalls on the vehicle that haven't yet been performed?

Answer
Based on what you've told me, I'd suspect either the throttle position sensor or the idle actuator, with the idle actuator being the higher probability.

Unfortunately, though, there are many problems this could be.  To give you anything more concrete, I'd probably need to feel the problem myself (to get a better idea of what's happening beyond what can be explained here) and data readings from the ECM when the problem is occurring.

To get this further investigated, you'll probably need to take the car to a *very good* driveability shop or dealer.
