The rear view mirror bracket (mounted to windshield) is loose and vibrates. How do you remove the plastic cover to tighten it?

Answer
The bracket on the windshield is glued in place and should not be able to move.  The mirror base slides into the windshield bracket.  It's possible either that the mirror pivot ball is loose or the base is loose.  

To access either, you'll need to remove the mirror from the windshield.  First, pry off the plastic cover on the mirror base.  You can use a small screwdriver or a pick to do this.  Then, the mirror should slide downward out of the windshield bracket.
