Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Tiburon 2000 Wont Start, crankshaft sensor, hyundai tiburon

Question
After a heavy rain, the Tib decides not to start.  It's been 4 weeks & I finally had it towed.  I'm being told it's the Crank Shaft Sensor that is getting moisture.

So, does that sound right? Because the mechanic is telling me that it is not a product that I can purchase after market, and that he needs to get it directly from Hyundai.  Am I being "had"?

Answer
If your car cranks normally and won't start, a failed crankshaft sensor is a plausible cause.  As far as getting moisture, I doubt it.  But I also cannot see your car.

I have no idea whether these crankshaft sensors are available aftermarket, but that shouldn't be an important issue.  They're available from Hyundai dealers, so your repair shop should be able to get one at least in a couple days.
