Hyundai Repair: Car doesnt burn gas, 2004 xg350, practical joke

Question
You may find this hard to believe, but my XG350 apparently doesn't use gas anymore. The tank reads full, and I can't get a drop in it. But I have driven over 200 miles. What could possibly be happening? Some kind of vapor lock? I am afraid to try to get to the dealer (70 miles) cause I don't know how much gas I have. Car runs fine, perhaps I have a miracle?

Answer
Gotta say, I'm a little baffled myself.  There are problems that will make it difficult to fuel the vehcile (such as fuel in canister or other blockage of evaporative system venting), but none of these should affect the accuracy of the fuel gauge.

My best guess, and this is quite a longshot, is that you've overfilled the vehicle, getting fuel in the canister, and it's burning off the fuel in the canister.  But, even so, I figure that should be about 10 gallons.  And trust me, you won't be able to force any more than a gallon into the canister.  If your cruising range is enough you might try to take the car in.

I'm not sure I'd want to correct this problem, though.  If I could avoid purchasing $3 a gallon gas, I would.  Any chance someone is playing a practical joke on you and filling your car when you're not looking?
