Hyundai Repair: 2005 Hyndai Elantra Alarm System, 2005 hyundai elantra, hyundai elantra

Question
How about if that does not do the trick. There a fuse or object I can just uhm say... yank out? =)

The alarm system does not even chirp anymore to tell me that it is armed when locking the doors. Its all defunct...

I'll try your tip. That could do it though. I know i messed with the hood a little bit. Because it was to hard for her to lift. It was very stiff. Even I was suprised when we got it.

We had got it used =/

Thanks,
Scott

Question -
My fiancee's factory Alarm system on her 2005 Hyundai Elantra keeps going off randomly throughout the day. I seen it before. Nothing will even touch it. And it will just go beserk.. Now the neighborhood is getting upset. And the dealership said there was nothing wrong with it. I hate dealership's. So how can I disable it step by step?

Answer -
There's no way to disable the alarm per se.  But you can just not set it.  If you lock the doors with the lock button on the driver's door instead of the remote, the alarm will not set, and it therefore won't sound when the problem happens.

The number one cause I've seen for this problem is the hood switch.  Typically, the rubber bumper on the hood doesn't properly depress the switch.  You can check this by arming the system with your remote and then jostling the hood around a little.  Similarly, it'd be a good idea to check your door switches in the same manner.  Make sure the hood and doors all close securely.  If you'd like, you can open the hood or one door and depress the switch button with your finger, set the alarm, and then let off the switch, retrying a few times, to make sure that each switch is working properly.  I've seen the hood switches have poor contact sometimes, so if the hood doesn't touch the switch, and it has poor contact, the alarm sounding can be very random.

Answer
If the lamps don't flash when you lock the car with remote, that's your sign that something's already amiss.  The system isn't armed until the turn signals flash once.  Once you've locked it with remote and the lights don't flash, go around jostling the hood and doors until one of them arms the system.  That'll be the one you need to look into.

Unfortunately, there's no fuse to pull.  The alarm on this car is integral with the time and alarm control unit.  Any fuse you pulled that disabled the alarm would also disable other things as well.
