Hi,
I just purchased a 2002 hyundai elantra GLS from a private party. Just after 2 days after buying the car, the check engine light came on.
I went to Jeff lube for a oil change and they also mentioned the check engine light message was 'Emission Systems Leak'. But they had no clue what it meant. The car passed the smog tests perfectly just a coouple of days back. I am not sure what to do. Please advice.
Really appreciate your help on this

I'm not familiar with Jiffy Lube's diagnostic equipment, but presuming the description to be correct, it could be something as simple as a loose or improperly installed fuel cap.  Check to make sure your cap is properly installed (not crossthreaded) and is tightened until it clicks.  Clear the light and memory by disconnecting the battery for five seconds.  If the lamp doesn't come back on in a week or so, you've probably found and fixed the problem.

If the lamp returns, you'll need to take the car to a shop capable of doing emissions/check engine lamp diagnosis and repair.  If you've got less than 60,000 miles on the car, you should take it to the dealer, since if it's not the fuel cap, the problem will likely be covered by the factory warranty.

Answer
You won't have any problem unless Hyundai has voided the warranty for some reason (flooded/salvaged/odometer tampered/etc.)  All the cars come with the same 5/60 bumper to bumper warranty, so you won't need any papers.  The dealer can check the in-service date.
