Hyundai Repair: Spark Plug Replacement, hyundai sonata, pep boys

Hi, the spark plug recommendation for a  02 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L is PGR5C-11(NGK) or RN10PYP4 (Champion). The NKG are about $17.00 each  at the dealers and the champion are hard to locate.Is there any other spark plug that will  not interfere with the performance that I could use? Thanks, Ron

Hi, Ron.  Look for replacement plugs at your local parts supplier (AutoZone, Pep Boys, Advance, whatever).  There's nothing special about the plugs you'll get at the dealer other than the price.  I'm not a fan of the Champions as they seem to provide significantly more trouble than the NGK with carbon-tracking and misfire issues.  As long as you use a high-quality replacement plug (such as NGK or Denso), you should be fine.  Just take the PGR5C-11 number to your local parts store and they should be able to give you those or cross-reference them to something else acceptable.
