Hyundai Repair: brake line, teflon tape, double flare

Question
Hi HT, When I went to replace my brake line, I couldn't get a pre-flared section long enough to match the original section so the parts store sold me 2 lines and a union. I went with pre-flared line bcz I didn't think I could flare a line.  Anyways, turns out I needed to flare one end. I made the double flare and it looks good.  My question is are unions safe?  If not, I'll just buy one non-flared line long enough and flare both ends. Also, do you need to put Teflon tape or joint compound (like you use in plumbing) on the adapters before you thread them into the fittings?  Thanks for any info.

Answer
Unions are perfectly safe.  They're no different than the fittings elsewhere in the system.  DO NOT use tape, joint compound, or any other substance on the fitting.

Sounds like you're pretty well set up at this point.  Have at it and let me know if you've got any other questions.
