Hyundai Repair: Fuel Filter location, hyundai accent, fuel consumption

Question
We have a 2002 Hyundai Accent GL automatic 4 cylinder.  My boyfriend is trying to change the fuel filter in our car and cannot seem to locate it.  Do you have an idea as to where it is located.  We are trying to change the fuel filter because our car consistantly got about 300 miles per tank of gas and now it is only getting about 160 miles per tank.  We have been doing a little more in town driving and not quite as much highway driving but not enough to make that much of a difference.  If you can think of anything else it might be please let me know.  Thank You.

Answer
The fuel filter is probably not your problem but it is located under the rear seat. There are two release clips at the seat bottom. If you push them toward the seat and lift the seat base will come up. There is a plastic cover with wires going through it pry it up with a screwdriver and you will see the filter. Try to remember that things like city driving and AC use will have an effect on fuel consumption. Also if your Check engine light is on you may have a problem that would cause high fuel usage and you should have that checked.
Hope this helps
