Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Tiburon door lock, hyundai tiburon, lid removal

Question
Yesterday, I left my keys in the ignition and did not realize it until I had already locked and shut the door. (Please no stupid female driver jokes) Two different police officers tried to jimmy and rig the door open to no avail. Finally a spare set of keys arrived and I was able to unlock the passenger side of the vehicle only. When I got in, climbed over the center console, and sat in the driver's seat again; the door would not open from the inside. The door would not open from the outside. When you stick the key in the lock, you can hear the lock mechinism move and shift, but still the door won't open. I took the car to the local small-town auto repair shop and they are now telling me that they can not figure out how to get the door panel off to find out what the deal is. My car is now sitting in the shop with the front seats removed but still no fix on the door. I would so greatly appreciate any and all help that you may be able to offer. I don't wish to continue driving my car by entering the passenger side all the time. Thank you!!!!
Barb :-)
