Hyundai Repair: fuel pump assembly replacement, hyundai santa fe, fuel tank cap

Question
I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. I purchased a new fuel pump assembly through Hyundai and am planning on replacing it myself since the part was so expensive. I was told that it's an easy thing to do. There is an access panel on the floor of the car. Can I remove the old assembly and replace the new one from there. Is it as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one? Should I drain the gas tank first? Thanks for any advice you can give.
