Hyundai Repair: Poor starting, hyundai s coupe, rotor arm

Question
I would very much welcome any advice that you could give me on the following problem.
I've had for some time a Hyundai S Coupe auto 1468 cc, first registered 14/8/92. Recently I have been having trouble with starting. It seems to have various but never the less similar problems. The most common is that it starts, but fails to maintain any idling speed, if however you keep your foot on the accelerator to artificially keep the idle speed up for about 20 to 30 seconds it will maintain the idle. On other occasions it starts with no problem, but these are becoming less and less. And then on thankfully few occasions refuses to start at all, but the symptoms are much the same as flooding. But I feel it's not truly flooded as if it's left for sometimes only a minute it will then start.
The battery was changed about two years ago and that's when I first noticed the problem but very infrequently. I have taken the car back and had the battery checked, which was O/K, but this was about six months ago. At the time they also said that the charge was correct from the alternator. The battery does however seem to go flat very quickly only lasting about 10 days if not used, there is an alarm light but it only uses about 4 milliamps.
I tough it could be the HT leads as I found one that had obviously been shorting out so I changed the leads and plugs. The rotor arm and distributor cap where changed last year but still look to me in good condition. I've looked for lose connections and all the obvious type of things but have now got to the stage where I think it must be one of the mysterious electrical bits, if it is, I would welcome your advice.
Yours Faithfully

Answer
This is probably going to be a problem with the idle air control motor this controls the idle speed by controlling the amount of air allowed to bypass the throttle body at idle it is probabbly seized up.

this should be referred to a professional as he has the chemicals to dissolve the carbon build up.
