Isuzu Repair: Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid, gas mileage, trouble code

Hi there,

On my 1998 Rodeo, my mechanic told me a trouble code revealed that the vent solenoid or vapor canister purge solenoid was in need of replacement. Isuzu does not list this as a replacement part. Instead they call it a valve;filter. Can this be the same thing? Both are described as being at the rear of the vehicle and have hoses attached to the purge canister. When I look at the part, it looks like a filter but   it does seem to have a solenoid attached. Any thoughts?

I would look online for a replacement as these will cause bad gas mileage, idling problems, ruin 02 sensors/catylitic converters and lots of other fun stuff. They call it a switching valve I believe Kelly and should be easy to locate one:) If you remove it air should only be allowed to go one direction not both okay?:)
