Isuzu Repair: 88 Isuzu Trooper, voltage drop test, o reilly auto parts

Question
Hello,
Today my husband and I were sitting in the drive thru waiting for our order.  When my husband decided to turn off the engine to our Trooper while we waited since gas prices are so high right now.  When he went to turn it back on it wouldn't start.  We've had problems with our ignition switch before coming loose so we thought it was that.  My husband pulled the ignition out, its clicking but its not turning over.  We thought maybe it was a low battery so our friend came and gave us a jump, but it still didn't work.  The lights came on, gauges worked.  We replaced the starter last may, we also replaced the fuel pump last October and we also hear the fuel pump come on when we turn the key.  Do you have any suggestions of where to look first?  We are thinking that maybe our starter went out again because we heard that Isuzu's have starter problems.  What do you think?  Thank you for your time and sorry this is so long....
Karen

Answer
Well no problem Karen. As for the starter Isuzu has boat loads of problems with their starters going out all the time. I would start by doing a voltage drop test on your vehicle's starting system and it should tell you a great deal. Also Autozone and O-reilly auto parts test and diagnose electrical systems free of charge. If all of the other electrical components came on that would hint at either a faulty starter solenoid, or loose, or broken wires in the starting circuit. Let me know if you have any further questions okay?
